#1 SEAN O’CONNOR Goalkeeper Born 15 July 1984, Glendale, CA Belmont Abbey College
6’3" goalkeeper O’Connor attended St. Francis High School, helping them win a CIF title for the Golden Knights in 2001, and being named to the All-CIF team in 2001 and 2002. He attended Belmont Abbey College, majoring in business management, where he was the first choice goalkeeper for four years. Sean was named to the All-CVAC team twice, and helped Belmont Abbey win the CVAC Championship in 2006 against Queens University. At club level, Sean has played played for the California Flyers, AGSS, Pasadena ICE and the Burbank Red Machine in CSL. He has also trained and coached with Blackburn Rovers ’keeper Brad Friedel in camps around the country, as well as locally with Jeff Tackett.

6’4" defender Robert Pate makes his debut for the Quakes in 2007, and looks likely to be an important member of the team’s back line. Robert was a three-sport star at Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, CA, where he earned two letters in soccer, four in volleyball and one in football. At Northridge as a freshman Robert played 15 games for the Matadors, scoring one goal against UC Davis in November 2005. Robert also played club soccer for Samba.

#8 CHAD BORAK Defender Born 6 January 1987, Palmdale, CA Cal State Northridge
An imposing left-sided defender, Chad returns for his second year with the the Quakes having played for Bakersfield Brigade in the PDL in 2006. Chad played four years of soccer at Highland High School in Palmdale, CA, earning All-Golden League honors his final three seasons, scoring 16 goals in his senior season, and helping his team to a league title and an undefeated record in his sophomore year. At Northridge, Chad was one of only five Matadors to start all 22 matches in 2005, and continued his impressive run with sixteen more appearances in 2006.

#9 RYAN SHAW Forward Born 6 November 1982, Denver, CO formerly UC Davis
Ryan was the Quakes’ top scorer in 2006, knocking in 8 goals in his 15 appearences, and will be looking to add to his tally in his second year with the team. Ryan was a goal-scoring standout for UC Davis prior to his graduation in 2004, while at club level he played for 7 years with the California Flyers, and 2 years with the Dallas Cup-winning National Champions American Global Soccer School (AGSS). Ryan trained with Sonoma County Sol in the National Premier Soccer League before to being drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft. Ryan never played for the Galaxy first team, but gained plenty of experience playing for Galaxy’s reserves alongside the likes of Herculez Gomez, Troy Roberts and Ned Grabavoy prior to coming to the Quakes last summer.

Korean attacking midfielder Kim makes his PDL debut in 2007, after impressing in his first two years at Cal State Northridge. Kim played four years of soccer at Los Angeles High School, earning All-CIF honors in 2003 and 2005. After recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, Kim played in 18 games for the Matadors in 2006, scoring six goals and receiving two assists. Kim is a former member of the South Korean U-15 National Team.

#18 KEVIN GUPPY Goalkeeper Born 29 January 1987, Chino Hills, CA Cal State Northridge
Kevin returns to the Quakes for a second season after being amongst the leading goalkeepers in the PDL in 2006. Kevin was a two-sport athlete at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, CA, where he played four years of soccer under head coach Kyle Shuler. Among his notable achievements, Kevin earned All-Sierra League accolades his last two years, and was named team MVP in his freshman and sophomore campaigns. At Northridge, Kevin was named Big West Conference Goalkeeper of the Year as a freshman, and was also named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman team, and the All-Big West Conference team. In 2006 Kevin was called up to a combine US men’s U-20 squad in preparation for the 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship.

BENJAMIN BENDITSON Defender Born 16 February 1983, Tarzana, CA formerly Cal State Northridge
Benditson began playing soccer when he was five, going on to play for Real So Cal Soccer Club and Oak Park High School. After graduating from high school at Milken Community High School, Benditson attended the University of Portland where he played two seasons with the men's soccer team. In 2001, he saw time in eleven games, but he was injured four games into the 2002 season. He then transferred to Cal State-Northridge for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He was named his team's Defensive MVP in his second and last year at Northridge. Benditson was drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy in the first round of the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft. He spent most of the 2005 season with the Galaxy's reserve team, making his first team debut when he replaced an injured Chris Albright in a 0-0 home draw against the Columbus Crew on May 26, 2005, but missed the second half of the season with a hernia injury. The Galaxy waived Benditson in 2006, and after trials with English club Wycombe Wanderers, Dutch club NEC Nijmegen and Danish club Viborg FF, is now back in his native California for his first stint with the Quakes. |

SEAN ALVARADO Defender Born 20 September 1986, Beverly Hills, CA UCLA
Sean grew up in West Orange, NJ, where he was a two-time first-team All-American under St. Benedict’s Prep School. He led his team to its 16th consecutive State Championship (18th overall) and to a fourth-place final national ranking in his senior season, scoring 2 goals and playing to 10 assists. Sean played at West Orange High School as a freshman and sophomore, earning first-team all-area and all-conference honors both seasons, and his team was the runner-up at the county championships and finished 10th in the state. Sean’s club team, Casa Mia Bays, were three-time defending national champions from 2003 to 2005), while his U-15 squad PDA Cantona won the State Cup in 2005. At UCLA, Sean is a solid and reliable defender; he posted 18 appearances in 2006. including the NCAA championship game which UCLA lost to UCSB.
Sean will miss the entire 2008 season because of injury. Get well soon Sean!

DYLAN LESLIE Midfield Born 4 October 1987, Lancaster, CA St. Mary’s College of California
Creative midfielder Dylan Leslie returns to the San Fernando Valley and the Quakes for a second season, having enjoyed a successful freshman term at St. Mary’s. Dylan played high school soccer at Paraclete High School in Lancaster, CA, and was a four-year letterwinner, compiling a 73-25-11 overall record, scoring 28 goals and 21 assists and leading Paraclete to the 2003 CIF-SS title. Dylan was named the 2005 Olympic League MVP, to the All-CIF First-Team and Team MVP, and in 2004 garnered All-CIF Second-Team accolades along with an Olympic League First-Team selection. Dylan graduated from Paraclete as the Valedictorian, and was recruited by Ivy Leaguers Princeton and Brown before settling on St. Mary’s. Dylan has enjoyed great success with the Gaels; he garnered First Team All-WCC honors after playing in all 18 games, finished his second season with four points on two goals and two assists. Following his freshman season, Leslie was a Second Team All-WCC and a WCC All-Freshmen Team selection in 2006.
