The top men’s minor league in North America lives in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the development groud for elite players. The 2007 campaign features a 63-team format within 4 conferences of 16 regular season matches, 8 home and 8 away. The schedule is augmented by participation in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and various exhibitions against international & MLS teams. Players have the ability to compete througout the summer months in a professionalizes setting while maintaining their college eligibility. The league primarily consist of the top college players in the United States as well as recently retired professionals. This mix of youth and experience creates an entertaining top class level of soccer for communities throughout the United States. The PDL is primarily the proving ground for players that aspire to reach the highest-levels of the game, while providing affordable family entertainment within their city.
